Developer Terrence Wall’s renovation of downtown Middleton has begun.

Wall is demolishing the six-building Old Middleton Centre and will replace it with seven buildings that will include 206 apartments and 36,000 square feet of office space.

In a Wisconsin State Journal report, Wall estimated the three-phase development will increase the site’s assessed value from its current $3.2 million to as much as $47 million.

Phase I is expected to be completed in early 2017, with phases II and III completed in 2019. The city is supporting the effort with $7.3 million in tax incremental financing.
