Plans for an upscale Marriott-brand AC Hotel one block off the Capitol Square have either been put on hold or shelved completely after city officials received a one-sentence memo from the North Central Group’s architect asking for the project to be removed from city agendas.

A week earlier, on a 5-4 vote, the city’s Plan Commission rejected the project’s latest plans for the 10-story, 164-room hotel at the corner of North Webster Street and East Washington Avenue and asked the North Central Group to return in late October with revisions to its design.

Concerns about traffic, a sidewalk easement, and the building’s height in relation to a nearby Frank Lloyd Wright property have continued to hamper the project.
