The steep growth in Madison’s population has been propelled by increased populations in Madison’s downtown, far east, and far west sides of town, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The continued growth over the past decade in these areas led to the overall growth of the city with the north, near west, west, and southwest sides of Madison only growing slightly in population. The city will be redrawing aldermanic district boundaries based on the new U.S. Census data.
