The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) has released details for the planning process for the Wisconsin Rail Plan 2050. The  plan will replace the 2030 plan as the statewide long-range rail transportation plan and will focus on freight rail, rail crossing safety, and passenger rail through the year 2050. The entire planning process is scheduled to be completed by January 2022. The first step in the process, the Draft Public Involvement Plan, will be open to public comment through Aug. 28.
