DOT completes I-39/90 project in Dane, Rock counties

45-mile interstate project in Dane and Rock counties has been completed, according to a release from Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Improvements to the I-39/90 stretch began in 2015 and include:   

  • Expansion from four to six lanes along most of the corridor through Janesville;  
  • Reconfiguration of 11 interchanges;  
  • New flyover ramps creating a free-flow transition of traffic between I-39/90 and I-43 in Beloit;  
  • Replacement of the Rock River bridges in Edgerton;  
  • Replacement of 104 bridges and box culverts;  
  • Expansion of truck parking at the Janesville and Beloit rest areas; and   
  • Addition of new park and ride lots in Edgerton and Janesville.
