With a congregation that has tripled in size since 2000, Door Creek Church on Madison’s far east side is planning a $7 million expansion that will add two 300-seat worship venues as well as parking, office space, and meeting rooms. The church’s footprint would increase from about 50,000 sq. ft. to 88,000 sq. ft. as a result, but its outreach would be felt far outside the building’s walls. It’s all part of an aggressive two-year agenda that will nearly double the church’s annual budget, launch a new downtown campus, and add new community outreach programs or bolster existing efforts. Plans are currently moving through city approval processes.
