Area drivers needing the services of their local Department of Motor Vehicles office take heed: the Odana Road and Hill Farms DMV locations will permanently close on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19, respectively.

As of Jan. 22, a larger DMV office will open at 8417 Excelsior Drive on the city’s west side designed to accommodate customers from all around the area and offer more than a dozen service desks, a large lobby, and parking for over 150 vehicles.

The city of Madison quickly filed a lawsuit against the Department of Transportation’s decision, claiming that the new west side location is not easily accessible by public transportation and therefore will negatively impact people who need to visit the office to register to vote or apply for a driver’s license.
