Discovery Storage recently began construction of a new facility at 2503 Seiferth Road on Madison’s southeast side. The development is situated on a land parcel that previously provided overflow parking for a neighboring office building, which had been vacant for several years prior to its recent sale.
The new Discovery Storage location will be an all-indoor self-storage facility. The 1.3-acre site is being redeveloped with a single new building housing more than 102,000 square feet of indoor climate-controlled storage on three floors, with two customer elevators and a total of 622 storage units.
This is the company’s third location in Greater Madison, joining existing locations in Fitchburg and Sun Prairie. Discovery Storage Madison will offer a range of unit sizes along with boxes, shelving, and moving supplies for purchase. It will also rent post office boxes and storage lockers.
Madison’s Reukert-Mielke Engineering assisted with the rezoning and planning for the project. Construction began in May with excavation activities by Sun Prairie’s Corex Excavating. BP Builders of Springfield, Missouri, is the general contractor for the project.
