Disability:IN Wisconsin, a statewide, business-led nonprofit organization focused on creating a more inclusive workplace for people with disabilities, today announced a new educational series for Wisconsin employers focusing on the Disability Equality Index (DEI). The DEI, a joint initiative of Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities, is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps organizations assess their disability inclusion efforts and make improvements.
The DEI is the world’s most robust disability inclusion assessment tool, used by hundreds of organizations worldwide. Each company receives a score on a scale of zero to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion.” Eleven Wisconsin employers received that recognition in 2023.
Disability:IN Wisconsin’s educational series will provide employers with the information they need to participate in the DEI survey and make their organizations more inclusive of people with disabilities. The series will cover topics such as:
- Culture and leadership;
- Enterprise-wide access;
- Employment practices;
- Community engagement; and
- Supplier diversity.
The educational series will be offered virtually and in person throughout Wisconsin. The first session will be held virtually on March 27 from 10–11 a.m.
