The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) blocked the sale of three SSM Health nursing homes — including one in Madison — to a for-profit New Jersey company, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
The department cited Complete Care’s “history of noncompliance” with regulations in its decision to deny the company’s application to buy the nursing homes, which include 184-bed St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison, Dane County’s largest nursing home; 102-bed St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo; and 50-bed Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.
Both SSM Health and Complete Care are appealing the decision.
