McGrath Property Group and Inventure Capital are proposing a 14-story mixed-use project for 149 E. Wilson St. in downtown Madison. The joint venture would replace a vacant, three-story former Department of Corrections building, which sits between two established condo Towers — The Marina and Union Transfer. The $20 million-plus plan calls for 127 apartments, 134 underground parking spaces, and between 1,500 and 2,500 sq. ft. of retail on the ground floor. It would also offer residents views of the lake. If the project is approved, developers could break ground early next year and open the building by June 2015.
