Developer Lincoln Avenue Capital of Santa Monica, California is proposing to raze the strip mall near West Towne Mall that holds Ultrazone laser tag, KBS Kitchen and Baths, and Aerus Electrolux for a four-story housing project, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The project would cost around $20 million and include 60 units, with 51 low-cost units, at the 680 Grand Canyon Dr. site.
The city approved the same developer’s proposal for a $192.8 million low-cost housing project near the former Oscar Mayer property on Madison’s north side, which would have 553 units in two buildings. The developer also has city approval to demolish the Fast Forward Skate Center on Verona Road for a $20 million, low-cost housing project.
Lincoln’s application to the city regarding the strip mall demolition cites its need for repairs and updating. The site’s 2023 assessment is $1.89 million. WHEDA has also identified the surrounding area as one of the state’s top job centers and job growth areas.
