The plan for a new development at 131 W. Wilson St. has been unveiled, while a current tenant has sued the owners over conduct, according to reports from the Wisconsin State Journal. The proposal outlines a 14-story project with 250 apartments, a deck top pool, commercial space, and underground parking to replace the office building that currently houses Paisan’s restaurant. The building has been troubled by structural issues that have caused the city to close it and reopen it twice in the last year. Meanwhile, Nicholas Loniello, a tenant in the building, has sued the property owners over a “bogus” demolition notice and alleged the owners acted in bad faith. The lawsuit, filed in Dane County Circuit Court, is asking the court to declare that Loniello’s lease doesn’t expire until Jan. 31, 2023. Greg Rice, the representative for the current owners, has submitted a notice with the city that he intends to apply to tear down the 12-story building, despite objections from tenants.
