Madison’s Urban Design Commission heard a proposal from developer Scott Lewis for a new rental housing project on the city’s east side. Lewis is hoping to transform a vacant lot at 1924 Atwood Ave. into a four-story building with 50 apartments and 50 underground parking spaces, costing roughly $5.5 million. The structure would offer a mix of studios and one- and two-bedroom units. If the project is approved, Lewis would like to begin construction in the fall and finish in mid-2014.
