The Marquette Neighborhood Association voted to oppose the proposed redevelopment of the Marling Lumber site, claiming Campbell Capital Group, developer of the proposed 228-unit apartment complex, did not consider affordable housing options for the structure, which would be located at 1801 E. Washington Ave.
The association rejected any rezoning, changes to the neighborhood plan, or conditional uses for the project.
Despite their objections, the Plan Commission unanimously approved the development, though it still needs a nod from the Urban Design Commission and the City Council.
