Raygun, which specializes in puns and silly, hyperlocal t-shirt designs, opened its first Wisconsin store at the end of September at 670 State St.
According to an Isthmus report, Wisconsin makes up a great deal of online sales, and opening a brick-and-mortar store in Madison made sense to sell shirts with such sayings as, “Wisconsin: even the soup is beer & cheese,” or, “It Isthmus what it Isthmus.”
Raygun operates 11 stores. The Wisconsin location does not have a merchandising deal with the University of Wisconsin, according to Isthmus, but does have some name, image and likeness deals with local athletes on the Badgers’ volleyball and women’s hockey teams.
Raygun also plans to release t-shirts with the logo of the original Wisconsin satirical newspaper, The Onion.
