Dane County’s Department of Human Services reportedly awarded two contracts to Urban Triage without putting the contract before the full county board for a resolution vote, Channel3000 reports. The nonprofit organization, which works to bolster education, cultural transformation and community for Black Madisonians and other marginalized populations, has received over $20 million from Dane County for various housing programs.
County rules state that contracts exceeding $100,000 must go to the full board for a resolution vote, but the Department of Human Services signed and executed contracts with Urban Triage for rapid rehousing and housing navigation contracts of $397,246 and $276,857, respectively, with only committee votes.
The vetting process for the contracts is also coming under scrutiny as the nonprofit’s applications reportedly contained several factual errors.
