Madison’s St. John’s Lutheran Church is undertaking a new project which will demolish the building on the corner of East Washington Avenue and Hancock Street, replacing it with a 10-story highrise including apartments and mixed-use space, according to WKOW.

The over 100 apartments will be targeted to people earning roughly $24,000 annually or higher, including teachers, nurses, day care workers, CNAs, those who care for the elderly, and more.

The space has been a place of worship for nearly five decades. The church is seeking another $3 million in capital funding to make the project a reality. Those interested in donating to the capital campaign can contribute here.
