Deluge of flight cancellations continues due to extreme weather

Over 1,200 flights were canceled this morning, and 1,300 were delayed due to winter weather that continues to disrupt air travel, according to WKOW. Tracking site FlightAware showed that United and Southwest Airlines each canceled over 250 flights.

Today’s disruptions follow the cancellation of over 3,300 flights on Monday, the highest number since the Southwest debacle of 2022.

United and Alaska Airlines also continue to have cancellations due to the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max 9 after a door plug blowout incident on Alaska Airline flight 1282.

There have been over 1,000 canceled flights every day since Friday, when almost 2,300 flights were canceled.
