After being sued by three shareholders, the president and CEO of New Glarus Brewing has filed a defamation suit against the shareholders’ law firm, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Deb Carey filed a lawsuit in Dane County Circuit Court that alleges she was defamed by Palmersheim Dettmann law firm when a press release issued by the firm contained “multiple false statements” about her. The lawsuit also lists 50 unknown individuals and organizations, including media outlets, that helped promulgate those statements. Carey says the accusation from the press release that she “retained $100 million, with over $40 million in cash” is among the “most egregiously” false.
