Dane County’s year-over-year foreclosure rate dropped 54% in December, according to DaneCountyMarket.com, with 60 new filings compared to 130 in December 2011. It was the fifth straight month of year-over-year declines, and the lowest December total since 2004, when the county recorded 44. Year-to-date, Dane County’s 1,315 foreclosure filings through December decreased 4% compared to 2011, when there were 1,374 filings. So despite 2012’s good news, foreclosures remain historically high.
