MillerCoors’ Milwaukee and Chicago operations should survive a deal with the Molson Coors Brewing Co. to buy out SABMiller’s stake in the MillerCoors LLC joint venture.
According to the Milwaukee Business Journal, “when the deal closes, MillerCoors will become the U.S. business unit of Molson Coors, which has headquarters in Denver and Montreal.”
Molson Coors intends to keep the MillerCoors brands as a part of the deal, which is expected to save $200 million per year.
“The impact of the latest operational change remains unclear. Molson Coors could eventually elect to manage MillerCoors from its headquarters in Denver, and that could mean significant reductions at the Chicago offices and at the administrative operations in Milwaukee and Colorado,” the Milwaukee Business Journal reports.
