More than 130 cats and dogs from an overcrowded Texas shelter will travel via rescue flight from Texas to Illinois and then to Wisconsin via transport vans, according to a statement from the Dane County Humane Society. The flight has been arranged by the Bissell Pet Foundation and the animals will be relocated to shelters in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan where they have a better chance of being adopted. Texas shelters are in crisis with overcrowding and a seasonal, high intake of puppies, lack of spay/neuter services during the pandemic, and slowing adoptions.
