Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) is set to receive a $14,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of its lifesaving work for animals in Dane County and beyond.
Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $375 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. Petco Love helps find homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations across North America, with 6.75 million pets adopted.
DCHS provides care and adoption services for companion animals, exotic species, barn animals, and injured, sick, or orphaned wild animals. As a private, nonprofit organization not affiliated with any government agency or national animal welfare organization, DCHS’s funding comes primarily from the community through individual donations, bequests, corporate support, grants, and fundraising efforts.
In 2023, DCHS took in 4,545 companion animals, of which 1,129 arrived on lifesaving transfers from overcrowded shelters; created 3,263 new families through adoption; admitted 2,088 wild animals across 132 species; and reunited 761 lost pets with their families.
