DATCP cracks down on price gouging

State regulators have sent cease-and-desist letters to 16 companies suspected of illegally raising prices amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The action comes after the Department of Trade, Agriculture and Consumer Protection fielded dozens of complaints and performed price checks at more than 100 Wisconsin stores.

Wisconsin’s declared public health emergency authorizes DATCP to enforce Wisconsin’s price-gouging law.
