Dane County’s unemployment rate dropped 0.5% from July to August, according to the latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figures. The county’s unemployment rate for August stood at 3.5%, but Pierce County in northwestern Wisconsin had the lowest rate in the state, at 3.4%. Statewide, the unemployment rate was 5.6%, while the U.S. rate was 6.1%.
