According to a report from the UW Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Dane County’s health ranking fell four spots last year — from 11th in 2012 to 15th — compared to the rest of the state’s counties. Dane County received high marks for activity levels and teen births, ranking second best out of the 72 counties, but it faltered in areas related to the physical environment, such as the number of fast-food restaurants and the amount of localized air pollution. Ozaukee was deemed the healthiest county and Menominee the least healthy.
