Dane County will pay $1.4 million for 22 acres in Cottage Grove just east of the county landfill for an expanded medical examiner’s office, a new highway garage, and possibly a future sheriff’s satellite office. Its location, near the expanding landfill, will allow the building to be heated by garbage-generated gases.
