Dane County Parks is launching the Conservation Career Pathways Program, designed to provide teenagers and young adults with the skills, certifications, connections and hands-on experience needed for economic mobility within the natural resource management field, as well as general labor trades like electrical, plumbing, and construction.
This program has received financial support from the Foundation for Dane County Parks and Ascendium Education Group.
Building on the Youth Volunteers for Conservation Program, which has had over 100 participants, the new Conservation Career Pathways was created based on feedback from participants on how to grow the program.
Dane County Parks will provide competitive pay for internships, volunteer opportunities that fit around most teens’ work schedules, transportation support and equipment and supplies. The program aims to serve at least 500 teens and young adults ages 13-24 through the summer of 2027.
