Two Dane County organizations are among four in Wisconsin that have been awarded grants to provide better access to behavioral health care and improve health equity, NBC15 reports. The other two recipient organizations are in Green Bay and Milwaukee.

The Dane County Department of Human Services and Employment Resources in Madison will each receive $85,762 to help providers reduce barriers faced by communities when it comes to behavioral health care, and equity and inclusion trainings will be offered to service providers. The grants are aimed at improving overall health outcomes.

The Department of Human Services plans to use the funds to help staff better serve LGBTQ+ youth as well as Black, Indigenous, and people of color. Employment Resources will host five open forums on better serving African America, Native American, Hispanic/Latinx, Hmong, LGBTQ+, people for whom English is not a primary language, and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing populations.
