Multiple Dane County nonprofits are seeking additional funding from the community as they contend with smaller budgets and rising demand for their services ahead of the new year, according to WMTV15. Among these organizations are the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County (BGCDC), Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, and United Way of Dane County.
American Rescue Plan Act funding from the federal government is set to end with 2024, and Second Harvest will reportedly lose $5.5 million in funding as a result. United Way — which saw 102 local nonprofit applications totaling $11 million for one of its grant programs but is only able to provide $2.4 million — will contribute $35,000 less to BGCDC as a result.
The organizations are seeking community donations to avoid program cuts and fill the funding gap.
