In-person programming has been suspended at the Dane County Jail due to a high number of COVID cases reported in the prison, NBC15 reports. The jail currently has 49 COVID-positive residents who have been isolated in specific cell blocks and housing units.
All in-person visitation has been canceled with the exception of attorneys, who are allowed to visit with mandatory masking. The jail has medical staff in the building at all times to treat residents; those with severe symptoms are hospitalized.
The jail is also offering rapid testing, face masks, and vaccinations for all interested residents and staff.
