The Dane County Humane Society, in partnership with the Beagle Freedom Project, the Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project and Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies, will assist in the care and placement of dogs being released from Ridglan Farms.

Ridglan Farms, a breeding facility in Blue Mounds, agreed earlier this week to transfer ownership of 1,500 dogs to the Center for a Humane Economy and Big Dog Ranch Rescue.

DCHS and its partners will work together to place 500 of these dogs.

“We’re incredibly grateful to see this moment finally come together,” Amy Good, DCHS’s director of development and marketing, said in a statement. “Individuals and organizations across Wisconsin and beyond have stepped up to make sure these dogs get the chance they deserve, and now our community has the opportunity to carry that forward. As these beagles begin their next chapter, we’ll need continued support to help them adjust, heal, and thrive.”

At this time, the Ridglan Farms beagles are not available for public viewing. DCHS has created an interest form for potential adopters and fosters.
