For the first nine months of 2012, Dane County home building has increased in eight of nine months compared to last year. The county’s 54 permits in September was a 10.2% increase over September 2011 and the fourth highest for a September since 2007. Year-to-date through September, there have been 600 housing starts in Dane County, compared to 491 during the same period in 2011, a 22.2% increase.
