Sales of existing Dane County homes and condos saw a 31% spike this past April compared to last April. The increase was again driven by condo sales, which surged 56% year over year. According to the South Central Wisconsin MLS, April to April, single-family home sales increased 20%, with 664 homes sold in April compared to 506 in April 2012.
The median sales price increased to $208,200, up from $206,354 a year earlier. Inventory remains low and demand is higher, resulting in a 5.2-month supply. In April 2012, the supply was 9.31 months. A six-month supply is indicative of a balanced market, so the advantage is still leaning toward sellers.
