Dane County home sales continue surge

The latest report from the South Central Wisconsin MLS shows existing home sales in Dane County continuing to surge month-to-month and year-over-year.

In April, 722 single-family homes and condos were sold, the most since April 2005. Compared to April 2014, sales are up 24.7% this year, as are median prices, which have increased 9.5% to $229,900. A year ago, the median price stood at $210,000.

Inventory is even tighter than in March (3.24), however, at just 3.12 months. A year ago, inventory was 4.1 months. Six months of inventory is considered a balanced market.
