Active listings of homes and condos declined in May compared to last year and are now at their lowest for the month since May of 2006, according to South Central Wisconsin MLS data. As of May 31, active inventory of homes was down 13.8% from May 2012, and the number of available condos was down 21.2%. On average, there is a 7.3-month supply for homes and condos combined, which is down from 11.1 months last year. A smaller inventory coupled with higher demand also means prices will likely rise throughout the year.
