Dane County Board announces vacancy

There is currently a vacancy for District 10 (city of Madison wards 86, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 115) on the Dane County Board of Supervisors that will be filled by temporary appointment. This position was previously filled by Aaron Collins, who resigned effective Nov. 11.

At this point in the term, county ordinances provide for a vacancy to be filled by temporary appointment by the County Board chairperson, with confirmation by the board. This seat will be on the ballot of the April 1, 2025, spring election to fill the remainder of the term. The County Board intends to act on the appointment at its regularly scheduled meeting on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. 

Individuals interested in the District 10 vacancy must submit a declaration of candidacy and nomination papers (containing a minimum of 25 signatures of electors in District 10) to the Office of the Dane County Clerk, City-County Building, Room 106, by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. Applicants will have the opportunity at an in-person public hearing on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. to describe their qualifications for the position. Further instructions will be sent to applicants after the paperwork is submitted.

Members of the public are welcome to submit written support in advance and may register in support or register to speak in support at the public hearing. It will be held in the Community Room at the Lussier Community Education Center, 55 S. Gammon Road, Madison.
