In a move to reduce costs, Dana Holding Corp., a vehicle parts manufacturer, will close its plant on Milwaukee’s northwest side next year, moving about 165 jobs to a company facility in Danville, Ky., according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The company said it’s consolidating its engine-gasket manufacturing in one plant. Its decision impacts 150 union employees and 15 salaried positions.
State, local, and UAW Local 9 officials said they were not given a chance to induce the company to remain in Milwaukee. UAW officials said the Danville plant, which is unionized, has a lower wage scale than the Milwaukee facility.
