Blue Mounds-based Dairyfood USA, which manufactures extended-shelf-life cheese, has broken ground on a $5 million, 17,000-sq.-ft. addition. The facility — to be completed in early 2014 — will hold all of the company’s processing equipment, improve food safety, and allow the company to expand product lines. The company has seen its revenues increase 18% for fiscal 2013, thanks to production increases in its spreads and smoked cheeses, particularly smoked gouda, which is up 22% in sales.
