The Alliant Energy Center has received extensions from its two largest events, the World Dairy Expo and the Midwest Horse Fair, as well as financial commitments from each to help fund an $18 million AEC project to replace aging barns with two new pavilions.
The World Dairy Expo, which will provide $3 million toward the AEC’s goal, committed to the Madison event for the next 10 years (with a five-year option). The organization that runs the Midwest Horse Fair will provide $1 million and secured a 20-year commitment. The financial agreements are pending the approval of public funding. The state will also contribute $9 million toward AEC construction costs.
