Culver’s collected $165,000 for the United Way fund through its Jan. 6 fundraiser to support the families affected by the Dec. 16 Abundant Life Christian School shooting, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The initially local benefit expanded to include 80 statewide Culver’s restaurants, which donated a portion of the day’s proceeds to the fundraiser in varying percentages.
The money will go toward United Way of Dane County’s Abundant Life Christian School Emergency and Recovery Fund. The nonprofit had collected $268,910 from 1,612 donors — not including all of the money from the Culver’s fundraiser — as of Tuesday.
On Jan. 23 from 4–8 p.m., five local Noodles & Company restaurants will host a fundraiser as well, with 25% of all sales to be donated to the school. Participating restaurants include the company’s east and west Madison locations, as well as those in Sun Prairie, Monona, and Fitchburg.
