Citing a growing demand for LED lighting, Cree’s Ruud Lighting subsidiary in Sturtevant announced plans to add 469 new full-time jobs.

The company, which plans to invest $24.5 million in an expansion of its warehouse and manufacturing capacity, will be eligible for up to $3.275 million in job tax credits and $725,000 economic development tax credits administered by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.

Cree recently acquired Ruud Lighting and its BetaLED products, a combining two LED lighting companies. Chuck Swoboda, chairman and CEO of Cree, noted the Sturtevant facility shipped its 500,000th LED luminaire last month, an indication of the market demand for LED technology that is considered a more energy efficient form of lighting.
