U.S. regulators announcedthat the first COVID-19 shots for infants and preschoolers have been authorized, paving the way for vaccinations to begin. The FDA’s action follows its advisory panel’s unanimous recommendation for the shots from Moderna and Pfizer and means that kids under 5 are eligible for the shots. There are an estimated 18 million children in the U.S. aged six months to five years old. The FDA also authorized Moderna’s vaccine for school-aged children and teens.
