The University of Wisconsin–Madison will move to online classes and pause men’s football and hockey teams for two weeks following a spike in positive COVID-19 test results, according to multiple reports from the Wisconsin State Journal. The students in two residence halls, Sellery and Witte, are also to comply with quarantine practices.

The mandate came after the positivity rate was 20% greater among students. Public Health Madison and Dane County has tied at least 46 separate outbreaks to the university. Earlier this week, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi asked the university to send students home from the residence halls. Chancellor Rebecca Blank responded to the request stating the university has entered into two weeks of restricted activity for students.
