The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hormel employees at the company’s Beloit plant.
On a 4–2 decision, the court determined Hormel must pay back wages for time employees spent putting on and taking off required clothing and equipment, in compliance with a DWD mandate that employees be paid for all time spent in physical and mental exertion controlled or required by the employer.
Hormel requires employees to wear protective gear to comply with federal standards related to sanitation and safety in the workplace.
