A Dane County couple is suing Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin for refusing to cover treatment for their daughter, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal. The suit says the company denied coverage for treatment as required by state and federal law. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Madison as a class-action complaint on behalf of children similarly denied coverage of autism treatment at age 10 or older. Marty Anderson, GHC’s chief strategy and business development officer, said the HMO is complying with the state’s mandate for autism coverage.
