New plans would see Dane County’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum undergo a much-needed renovation, according to WMTV15. The Coliseum has served as a venue for concerts, graduations, sporting events and cultural gatherings since its construction in 1967, but local leaders say the facility needs substantial updates to retain relevance going forward.
Among areas in need of improvement are the facility’s narrow entrances, outdated security and accessibility features, aging infrastructure and dated design. Dane County Executive Melissa Agard announced the start of a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to seek public-private partnerships to help fund the renovation. Community feedback will help shape plans for the redevelopment, which could begin within the next year, she said.
