Although funded, the Crisis Triage Center for Dane County is behind schedule, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Once open, the facility will serve as a “psychiatric emergency department,” with voluntary and involuntary stays of up to 23 hours. However, the $11.7 million project is delayed according to officials because of difficulties in planning, poor meeting attendance, and an over-emphasis on the county jail project. County Executive Joe Parisi included $1.3 million in the 2023 county budget for the center to help support ongoing planning. The project already has $10 million set aside by the county to buy property for the site and construct it.
