An Affordable Housing Development fund first established as part of the Dane County 2015 budget is now available, according to an announcement from Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. Of the $2.25 million earmarked, $1.75 million will be in a fund for homeless individuals, while a separate $500,000 fund will be used for transitional housing for released offenders.
According to a release, the fund was created to encourage the development of affordable housing countywide by using money from the fund to leverage additional funds. The county budget is allocating $2 million each year for four years into the fund. Applications can be made at www.danepurchasing.com, RFP number 115083.
Last year, four local organizations won the RFP process for affordable housing projects. Nehemiah Community Development Corp., $500,000; Housing Initiatives Inc., $500,000; Gorman & Co./Lutheran Social Services ($554,000); and Movin’ Out ($384,000).
